This shrine was constructed by the Sagara clan during the Azuchi-Momoyama period (late 16th century) to calm the souls of the Uemura clan, who were eradicated in an earlier conquest. For a four-year period starting in 2006, students of Kuma Technical High School worked to dismantle and repair this shrine.
