A shrine built to quell the vengeful spirits of the Hirakawa clan, the late ruling family of Yamada Village, who were wiped out by the Sagara clan. It is one of the few buildings in Southern Kyushu which can be traced back to Japan’s pre-17th century Middle Ages.
