7.Aoi Aso Shrine and the Okunchi Festival

This shrine was constructed in 806, and after falling under the protection of the Sagara clan, it attracted worshippers from both commoners and nobility alike. It has since been designated a National Treasure. The yearly Okunchi Festival held in autumn is the shrine’s most important event of the year.
