Misc

It is the residence of the Hirakawa clan, which was a powerful clan in a country before the Sagara clan entered Hitoyoshi Kuma. The Hirakawa clan, who were defeated in the Battle of Keshikihara against the Sagara clan, committed suicide in Iwashiro. Thereafter, the castle was ruled by the vassals of the Sagara clan, such as Kigami Jidou Kubota, Governor of Echigo. Inside the castle, there is Kimoto Jingu Shrine, where the 13th Sagara Nagamai enshrined the god of Ichifusa Jingu, and the underground car repair shop of the Hitoyoshi Naval Air Base on the east wall. It is one of the constituent cultural assets of the Japanese heritage.
